The preparation of a Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP) has been a legislative requirement for developments with a construction cost exceeding £300,000, since April 2008. Increasingly, a Site waste Management Plan is also required by local authorities to support planning applications. We can advise and prepare a Site waste Management Plan to set targets to promote resource efficiency in accordance with recognized guidance. We can also advise on the requirements for storage and collection of household waste and for the provision of composting facilities.

As part of our Code Management Service we can provide post construction evidence necessary to achieve credits under the Code for Sustainable Homes including; implementing procedures for monitoring site waste through the construction process and confirmation from the Local Authority of the collection service. We can also provide a home user leaflet suitable for the (WAS 3) composting credit.

Awardable Credits
Achieving the minimum household waste criteria under (WAS 1) is a mandatory requirement of the Code for Sustainable Homes. Between 1 – 4 additional credits are available for providing improved storage and sorting for refuse. The preparation of a SWMP is also a mandatory requirement under (WAS 2) and there are up to 2 further credits for improved sorting and minimization of site waste. A single credit is available for providing composting facilities under (WAS 3).
